Eabametoong First Nation (EFN), also known as Fort Hope, is an Ojibway First Nation located 360 kilometres north of Thunder Bay, Ontario on the northern shore of Eabamet Lake. The community has a total population of over 2,500 of which approximately 1,500 live on-reserve. The community is accessible by air and winter roads.
On January 31, 2017, the City of Markham signed a historic partnership accord with Eabametoong First Nation, a first of its kind. Through this Cultural Collaboration Agreement the communities have agreed to:
From the St. Patrick’s Parish CWL, a donation of $500 was made to support the Youth Outdoor Education Program under the leadership of Pastor Jimmy Waboose.

In support of our community and those in need, a donation of $1500 was made to the Markham Food Bank at 190 Bullock Drive, Unit 11 Markham, ON L3P 7N3.
I wanted to take this opportunity to update our CWL Executives on this initiative. Have also blind copied those that also took part in this initiative so they too are aware. Can't say it enough to our volunteers.....
THANK YOU, THANK YOU for taking the time to either donate funds that were used to buy packages OR actually purchase and / or donate items for these packages!!!
It gave me great joy to present 8 completed packages on behalf of our League and volunteers, to Kathy Powers (Founding Board Member of U-R Home and presently Community Resource Coordinator at Yellow Brick House). An amazing lady who also brought her daughter to help.
In addition to the 8 completed packages, Kathy also gladly accepted a 9th 70% completed one and all remaining knitted hats, gloves, and scarves. All of which she assured me will too be donated.

Evangelium Vitae
translated into English is The Gospel of Life. This
document is the papal encyclical written by Pope St. John Paul II.
March 25 of this year marked 30 years since Evangelium Vitae (EV) was
published on the Feast of the Annunciation. In this document he wrote
that the Gospel of Life is at the heart of Jesus’ saving message to the
world. In becoming human and dwelling among us, Christ reveals the
profound dignity of every human person. This God given dignity does
not change with our stage of life, our abilities, our level of
independence or any other varying circumstance. The human person is
a “manifestation of God in the world, a sign of his presence, a trace of
his glory.” (EV34). It is our mission to reflect this truth in how we act
and how we treat one another. One way we reflect the Gospel of Life as League members is through our Ministry of Service.
This April marks the 6th annual Global Volunteer Month. The month long celebration recognizes the profound impact each of us can make through volunteering. It celebrates the power of community, service and the ripple effect collective action creates in our communities and around the world. Many countries, including Canada, also have National Volunteer Week during this time. In Canada, National Volunteer Week is led by Volunteer Canada. This year it is the week of April 27 to May 3. The theme for 2025 is “Volunteers Make Waves”.

May the risen Christ bring you and your family endless joy, abundant blessings, and renewed hope.
